Welcome To Miss Whelahan's Kindergarten!
Hello Athlos Families!
Kindergarten is a wonderful journey of discovery! It is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day. Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.
As part of the Athlos philosophy, I have high expectations for my students and expect that they will work hard and learn a lot this year. My goal is develop a partnership between home and school to foster educational success. We will do this by building a solid foundation of skills using your child’s current knowledge and connecting that with the Arizona Common Core State Standards.
The best way to help to foster educational success in your child are to READ, TALK, LISTEN, EXPLORE and QUESTION. Reading daily with your child enhances his/her literacy development immensely! Talk with your child about the world around him/her, encouraging your child to speak in complete sentences. Show your child the interesting world that he/she lives in and ask questions about his/her day.
This site was created to provide parents with academic resources and classroom information that will help your support your child throughout the school year! Please take the time to explore this website. You will find practice tools and other helpful information related to our Spalding language arts curriculum, as well as requirements for book reports/poems, information on volunteering, weekly homework assignments, and more!
I am looking forward to a year filled with learning and FUN! Please feel free to contact me any time with any questions, comments or concerns.
Sincerely,
Miss Whelahan
